Special Award to Lion Andy Pemberton - delivering £140,000 in emergency grants!

Andy has been awarded an International Presidents Certificate of Appreciation for work on the Grants programme to help Lions Clubs in helping communities fight Coronavirus.

In early April, when we were first starting to feel the impact of the Coronavirus, Lions Clubs International British Isles released a special fund of £100,000 to support individuals and community services battling the effects of coronavirus.

Within two weeks of announcing the fund, Andy and his fellow trustees, processed more than 200 applications (that’s one-third of all Lions Clubs in the country), delivering £140,000 in emergency grants.

The money will go towards initiatives such as local foodbanks or other groups actively working at the heart of their communities. In the case of Balsall Common Lions Club, we matched our £1,000 grant with a donation to Solihull Hospital Charity for the funding of tablets for hospital patients.

I swear that, if you chopped Andy in half, he would have a Lions Logo running through him like a stick of Blackpool Rock!

We don’t expect all of our members to devote as much time and effort as Andy, but if you’re interested in what we do, or helping within the community, please contact us on Facebook, or our website (www.balsallcommonlions.org). Alternatively, contact Lion Mark Whitfield on 07795 184745 / whitfieldfamily@btinternet.com

Thank You Andy!
